Blake and Alison Navarette exchanged their vows on a hot, spring day using the perfect backdrop in Wichita, Kansas. The day was graced with the presence of many family and friends who gathered to witness this auspicious event, joining Blake and Allie’s two lives into one….and I was blessed to not only be a part of it, but I felt like family when I left!
For me personally, it all began when I was fortunate enough to run into an old friend and co-worker, Bobbie Navarette at a volleyball game around the end of March. We talked of old times and also what the picture of our current lives looked like. I mentioned to her I was a photographer with a growing business and let her know some of my most recent projects, including wedding photography. We parted ways and a week later, Bobbie had called me to ask if I would be a part of Blake and Allie’s special day. When I agreed, she said she felt like it might have been “fate” that reunited them. Any way you slice it, I was honored she would ask me to do so.

Stationed in Hawaii as a part of the United States Air Force, Blake and Allie reside in Maui, what most would consider a ‘wedding paradise’. Palm trees, warm ocean breezes blowing across the beach, perfect temperatures, and tropical flora….who could ask for a more picturesque landscape for one of the most important days in a couple’s life? But the landscape soon took a back seat to the fact that sharing this special day might be difficult being so far away…and I’m happy they did because again, I got to be a part of it!

Although the weather may not have been as picturesque as Hawaii, with the 100 degree temps and lack of a beach, the ‘scenery’ took a back seat to the many friends and family who gathered to witness Blake and Allie’s special day. After spending time with the happy couple, I felt like part of their family. Throw in the best man and groom’s brother and the matron of honor, who are also serving their country, one might feel like they were settling in for comedy hour, as all four of them together took any stress I may have had and made it one of the most fun experiences yet, full of smiles and laughter and just plain comedy throughout!

Thank you, Blake and Allie, for allowing me to be a part of your special day. I also want to thank all in your family and beyond who serve our great nation. We appreciate all that you do for us.
