I first met the Voss family in April when the cutest little girl in pony tails came to my Easter photo sessions. She sauntered into the room just like a princess with great confidence, just like a princess, her ‘entourage’ in tow (she’s a popular girl) and my heart melted at the amount of energy and spunk this young lady exuded! While capturing Miss Ella in a lull of that boundless energy while still flashing that beautiful smile was challenging, it was worth every blurred photo to finally get “the one”. A few weeks after our session, Ella and her family welcomed Easton, Ella’s new little brother. Needless to say I was thrilled when Ella’s mom, Kara, asked me to photograph her newborn boy and beautiful family!
Easton was a ‘pro’ at the modeling thing – an absolute angel – sleeping peacefully through most of the session, just as we’d hoped. Kara also requested pictures of Ella & Easton together, and while Ella is such a doll, she had again found some of that ‘Speedy Gonzales’ energy (I just realized I’m giving away my age with the ‘Speedy’ reference), but I love a good challenge! After many attempts to capture that perfect shot of both children together, I decided to take a break and try again another day, which proved to be a success! The break was only part of the key, however. The perfect shot of both children was finally captured, but with the assistance of a jelly bean ‘bribe’, one of Miss Ella’s favorites. Thank goodness for small favors! Much to our surprise, I was also able to seize the moment and capture some wide-eyed shots of Easton, which were equally beautiful.
My experience with the Voss family was awesome and worth every minute! It’s so wonderful to photograph such a bubbly and energetic little lady in Ella and to capture the joy of such a beautiful family through my lens. I also want to personally congratulate Kara and Jeff on the addition of Easton and thank them from the bottom of my heart for choosing me to document a few of those early moments Easton’s life.
I absolutely love kids and newborn sessions but I have a new love to add to the list, WEDDINGS! I’ve got lots of weddings coming up so be watching for beautiful brides to go along with the little smiling faces you’re used to seeing here!
Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend and remember and honor those who have served and who currently serve our country!
